Our treatments are perfectly suited for men and women who want to remove unwanted hair.

Many factors can contribute to the growth of excess hair

• Heredity
• Normal physiological changes
• Malfunctions of the endocrine system
• Medication
• Topical influences
• Stress

Regardless of the cause, men and women both need solutions for the removal of unwanted hair. Hair removal has been practiced since the beginning of civilization. In 1875, Dr.Charles Michel first discovered a process that led to our contemporary electrolysis treatment. More recently, new laser light technology has innovated the practice of hair removal making it faster and more comfortable. It is a good idea to speak to a trained professional to help you determine which treatment is best for you. Our treatments are perfectly suited for men and women who want to remove hair on the hairline, beard lines, eyebrows, ear, top of the nose, cheeks, sideburn area, upper and lower lip, chin, throat, neck, bikini, hands, feet, toes, fingers, chest, breasts, abdomen, arms, legs, shoulders, and back.

Understanding Laser Treatment

LightSheer(tm) Diode Laser is FDA approved for permanet hair reduction on all skin types, including tanned skin. A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. Different types of lasers produce different colors of light. The color of light produced by a particular laser is one of the keys to its effect on hair follicles.

The light emitted by the LightSheer Diode Laser is well absorbed by the pigment located in hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment, disabling numerous follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair’s regrowth.

Importantly, LightSheer’s special contact-cooling hand piece is perfect for your skin. It protects and cools the upper layer of the skin before, during, and after each pulse while directing the laser energy to the hair root. The combination of this aggressive skin cooling and other key laser parameters allows safe and effective treatment of all skin colors.

What you can expect

The length of a laser session may be a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. Because the laser tends to treat hair follicles that are in an active growth phase, more than one treatment may be required to disable hair follicles that subsequently enter this growth phase.

The laser treatment itself can cause a slight tingling sensation. Most patients tolerate the procedure well. But because some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, topical anesthesia can be an option.

The appearance of the treated area immediately after a laser session will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of treatment and skin type. Immediate after-effects, if any, are minor. They may include redness and swelling, which disappear in a short time. Most people return to normal activity right away. We will be happy to tell you more about your treatment and what you can expect during your consultation.

Understanding Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a permanent method to remove unwanted facial and body hair. An electrolysis treatment involves the insertion of a sterile probe, the same size as the hair follicle opening, down to the dermal papilla. A low-level electrical current is applied that will destroy the papilla and surrounding cells and loosen the hair in the follicle. The hair is then removed. There are three different modalities, or methods, that can be used to eliminate unwanted hair: galvanic electrolysis, thermolysis, and the blend. Your electrologist will select the best method for you based on your hair type, skin characteristics and sensitivity.

What you can expect

Electrolysis can be used safely to remove hair permanently from the eyebrows, face, breasts, abdomen, and legs. Since many factors influence hair growth, several visits on a frequent basis are required. Treatments range between 15 minutes and an hour, and most clients return once a week or every other week. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. The unwanted hair will be gone forever once the treatments are completed.
